Sherry R. Rosenblad, Ph.D., LPC-S

Dr. Sherry R. Rosenblad became Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at TTUHSC in Fall of 2022.  She served as Associate Professor of Psychology and Counseling at Hardin-Simmons University from 2014 to 2022, after earning her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Sam Houston State University (SHSU).  She was an adjunct professor for two years at SHSU as well as serving as a Doctoral Fellow.  After receiving her master’s degree in Community Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) in 2007, she became a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She served as Graduate Admissions Director at UMHB, started a counseling service at Bell Baptist Association, counseled at an injury clinic, and has had private practices in Austin, Belton, Huntsville, and Abilene.  Overall, Dr. Rosenblad has served her community since 1996 through volunteer support group facilitation and community counseling, in addition to being a crisis pregnancy counselor, victim advocate and hotline counselor.   Dr. Rosenblad is a CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs, the national accrediting body for counseling programs) site team chair.  She is committed to her students receiving the best education possible.  This commitment includes providing diverse service and research opportunities to the Lubbock area and beyond.

 

Dr. Rosenblad is a member of the American Counseling Association, Association of Counselor Educators and Supervisors, Chi Sigma Iota, Texas Counseling Association, Texas Association of Counselor Educators and Supervisors, American Association of Christian Counselors, and Christian Counselors of Texas. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and approved LPC Supervisor with the state of Texas.

Academic Experience

Publications

Dr. Rosenblad is interested in continuing her research on personality type assessment as well as integrating Christian values in counseling. She has co-authored a chapter on Marriage and Family theories, an article on using Sandtray in Substance Abuse Groups, an article on ethics, and has published a Statistics companion website with a professor from Sam Houston State University.

Research

Dr. Rosenblad continues to research her dissertation topic of personality assessment.  In addition, she is writing articles about using role-play games in therapy and personality types and love languages.  Looking forward, Dr. Rosenblad will research innovative ways of treating trauma.  In the past she has researched about careers and rural mental health.

Dr. Rosenblad has served the community since 1996 through counseling, mission trips, volunteering, and more.  She has served the profession by being a CACREP site visitor, providing Continuing Education opportunities, and  political advocacy.  She has served the University through active committee membership, dissertation committees, being faculty advisor for student organizations, and more.
