About us
Here at Hardin-Simmons University, we believe in being exceptional. This is due in large part to our excellent faculty, our approach to therapy, and our commitment to a Christian perspective. It is our philosophy that if we are to train therapists, then our faculty must have experience in providing therapy. All of our clinical supervisors are licensed as therapists by the state of Texas and have years of real world experience with diverse client populations. In addition to providing training in classical theories, our faculty have developed and adopted an innovative approach that helps students to readily identify the factors that are continuing client problems and have developed intuitive intervention strategies. Additionally, all of the faculty in our department are active members of local churches and are committed to integrating faith. We know that in times of distress, people struggle with issues of meaning, purpose, and value. We encourage our students to be sensitive to these issues and walk with clients in their struggles.

Our Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
